Bio
Carson Lewis is a guitarist, singer and songwriter originally from San Jose, California and currently based out of Dallas, Texas. He mixes folk and americana with a bluesy reggae undertone to create his proprietary recipe for sound. But at the same time there is an undeniable soul..almost R&B element to his live show that can’t be ignored. He would say that his style is like if Sublime met Charley Crockett. Folksy enough for the Country crowd but a with an undeniable focus on the rhythm and getting funky in the pocket. Alan Tilson of the Trinity River Blues Society said: “It’s a full flavor gumbo. It’s bluesy..its’s funky..it’s soulful… full of Reggae beats with Cajun and Folksy flavor thrown into the roux.” Known for his high energy performances and improvisational freestyling on the mic, you can find him performing all over with his backing band “Plenty of Flavor” His new album '“TANK COUNTRY” is out everywhere.
Carson was born and raised in the south side of San Jose, California and first picked up the guitar around the age of 12. Hugely inspired by band like Bob Marley, Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, Carson fell in love with reggae and all of its adjacent genres. He also went through a hip hop phase where him and his friends would record original verses over classic Hip-Hop beats. This early Hip-Hop influence still carries on to this day where he freestyles every live show always involving the crowd and the city he is playing in. He credits KRS-ONE as the emcee that has influenced him the most as a live performer.
“KRS embodies what it means to be a performer. Even though I’m not playing the same genre as him, his mentality can be carried into every single performance. Your job is to entertain, move and connect with the crowd. No one did it better than him” -Carson Lewis
Carson Lewis is what you get when you take a guy who came up in the California Reggae Rock scene and you put him in the Gulf Coast and introduce Cajun, Country and Western influence. Carson Lewis had previously founded a reggae rock band called Nessie the Great that was formed in 2016 in San Jose, California. When his longtime bandmate JC Sandoval moved to Dallas, TX in 2021 for work, Carson was convinced to move out just a year later in 2022. Seeking new experiences and inspiration, his move to Texas changed him forever opening him up to new styles of music. He gained a new appreciation for country, blues and New Orleans funk soon after moving to Texas. Feeling the need to begin a new musical chapter, Carson decided to abandon Nessie the Great and start a solo career.
He recorded his first solo record “El Niño in just 2 days while at home recovering from a knee surgery. The album is mostly acoustic guitar, no drums and he wrote all the songs as he was recording them. From here he decided to take this solo project more seriously and he put together a backing band and started gigging constantly. His follow up album “TANK COUNTRY” is what he considers to be his true debut album. The album has full instrumentation and is more of a representation of his live performance. He has been performing relentlessly ever since all over the DFW Metroplex. He has become a staple in the famed neighborhood Deep Ellum making a name for himself playing in the clubs and bars down there sometimes multiple times a week.

“Carson Lewis was a trooper of a performer and played several times over the weekend across multiple stages, often filling in if a musician dropped out because of the weather.”
